This electrified future is closer than you might think. General Motors announced earlier this year that it planned to stop selling gasoline-powered cars by 2035. Audi aims to stop making such cars by 2033, and many other big car companies are following suit. In fact, according to Bloomberg, two-thirds of global passenger car sales will be electric by 2040. Thanks to advances in battery storage technology, grid-scale systems are developing rapidly around the world. While this sounds like the ideal way to achieve sustainable energy and road travel, there\'s one big problem. Currently, lithium-ion batteries, which are often used in electric vehicles and in super-capacity batteries for storing renewable energy, are difficult to recycle.
